Hey everyone , I just got my first male peafowl he is about 2 years old. I was wondering when i can let him roam free range around my land i just dont want him to not come home.. I have about 30 chickens all different breeds a turkey and a peahen that all roam the yard free range and dont leave. i got him about 2 weeks ago and he has been in the barn. I have been going out tameing him.. he is very gentle and calm and sits on my hand now

He is beautiful!! Just out of curiosity, where is his train? Did he come from a breeder?
I got him from a farm close to we’re I live I am pretty sure they breed them .. and I am not sure about his train he is still young not 2 years old yet she said .. they had a male that was 5 years old at the farm and it had a full train

Pretty blackshoulder boy @Countryqueen295! :love

Before you let him out to roam, you might consider whether or not he's a good candidate to free range.
For example, are there a lot of predators where you live? Are you near any busy roads? Do you have friendly neighbors?
Peas are super-nosy and he is likely travel quite far when he's out exploring.
This can mean serious danger from moving cars.
Your boy might also decide to visit the neighbors, jump up on (and scratch) their cars, eat their flowers, and poop on their porch. :lau

Just some food for thought!

He's alone ... that's the biggest problem!
Peacocks are gregarious animals .... they live in a group! He will looking to find his group ... he will leave!
It's a blue black shoulder .... he needs two peahens blue black shoulder .
