Hi, I amcurrently in the process of setting up my very first backyard chicken coop. I am in Scranton, PA. Does anyone have advice with regards to the ordimances or permits I may need?

You will want to contact the governing authority where you live and speak with someone directly.
I know of someone who rehomed her flock last year that lived in Scranton and she had to get rid of them because they weren't allowed where she was which was very urban. Maybe areas on the outskirts of the city are different.
