New Pair (video)

Haha, I wish hatchery stock orientals looked anything close to those two! Trust me, they're not from hatchery stock. Jungle fowl crosses look a lot more like American Games or Old English than anything oriental.

I can only guess...maybe 7 or 8 pounds. The thing that really struck me about him is his personality. He is really sweet and tame. My OEG's tolerate me but this guy seems to enjoy humans.

Looking at the picture and video and listening to the crow... you have a Thai! 7-8lbs is the right weight range. The way he acts, stands, moves, crows and of course looks (peacombed, hardfeathered, no wattles, tail held just above the horizontal, long neck, strong beak, pale eyes, not as upright as a shamo or brazilian and not as curved as a malay) all point to a Thai.

Mine are very sweet, intelligent and friendly, almost more like another dog than a chicken. They let my 4 year old pick them up and hug them and carry them around with no complaints. Thais are not a common breed on this forum but there are a few breeders so feel free to ask us any questions.

Yep, sounds alot like a thai or thai cross. You will really enjoy these birds, like you said they seem to enjoy people and tame easily...but remember they are still gamefowl, our thai hens and roos do not tolerate other birds that they are not raised with. I have even had sisters kill one another when they went broody. Yes they do take a little special care compared to barnyard mutts that can be piled together in a run, but their personalities and dispositions will endear them to you...Good luck with your new birds....

Beautiful birds. I just LOVE game birds.
Looks like a very close relative to saipans or malays, but
these birds get really big.

So the asian breed is the best bet. You have a very nice
roo there. Take care of him, he can give you some wonderful
babies.
