My hubby and I waited 3 years to begin our chicken experience. My dh studied up on everything. We got our first 8 bitties (1 Black Australorp, 3 whte Leghorns and 4 Buff Orpingtons) about a week before his birthday, in May. Fell in love and got 12 more bitties, this time it was a few days later ON his birthday :D This time introducing Roadbars to our flock. My birthday was in July and I just really wanted a white silkie to add to our amazing flock. On our way home from the feed store,on my birthday, we're driving with 2 Black Stars and 3 silkies. One is white!!! I do believe Lacey is a Larry though. Cluckingham Palace is girls only. I figure I'll get another kitty, so it evens out LOL! Maybe y'all can help us out! The picture of all 4 breeds in treir door was taken at 7weeks old, or about a month ago. We're thinking the white silkie is Larry, a roo. New
New at this so bear with me:D

Interesting coop but, "things" can jump, fly or fall down into the coop/run area from the tree branches. Things like raccoons, hawks or owls etc. Need more wiring higher up.

Silkies are generally near impossible to sex early but, I do believe you are spot on re: Larry. A female has a poufy crest - males have it pushed back in front ala Larry.

I must say though hatchery silkies don't resemble breeder quality birds. Both sexes could be nearly crest-less. They could have hard feathers rather than silky. They could have pink skin rather than black, missing toes etc.

You may want to join the "Silkie thread," and keep up on the breed.

Yes, the coup isn't finished bc hubby is using recycled materials. We have to buy the wiring. See the trampolines? Lol

Oh a silkie thread! Yay

looks like a pullet to me...my black Silkie Roo developed a comb pretty quickly...the white Silkie hen still doesn't have much of a comb or battles...

The white silkie looks more developed than Marble and our other one we got, Eglantine. Lacey, white, has much more of a mowhawk going on :):I guess we'll wait and see!!
