New Pea chicks

My peahen just hatched her first two eggs but she is still sitting on them is that normal?

Hello, and a warm welcome to Backyard Chickens! It's great to have you here with us! I'm sorry I can't be of much help to your question, but hopefully someone will pop in soon.

Does she have more eggs to hatch? Generally just hatched chicks can go for a day or two without eating because they received nutrition through their egg sac. You can put out a shallow pan of water for them(with some clean marbles or pebbles)so they don't drown. Tap on the pan to get their attention and dip their beaks a bit so they will drink. You can also show them there is chick starter feed in a pan.

Welcome to BYC. She may continue is 'broody setting' mood for as much as several days. Just have feed and water placed so that the chicks have easy access to it.
