I just purchased 3 peachicks from a guy that said they were IB × Black shoulder. I haven't raised any peafowl in many years. Was just wondering if these chicks are normal color for this cross. They are 4 weeks old. Thanks in advance

I can't answer the question, but I would recommend placing some hay or shavings down over the wire. They'll get bumblefoot/cut up feet from the wire.

Best of luck with them!

Yes Rosemary, over half the brooder is solid floor, they usually don't stay on that end but they were trying to avoid my 1yr old which was being pretty loud so they ran to the corner

They appear to be Purple. Obviously, the breeder doesn't know peas very well. It is possible that the daddy is IB split to Purple and these are all Purple hen chicks and maybe split BS if momma is BS although you will not know that by looking at them. If you have a red heat lamp on them that could throw off the color I am seeing but they look Purple in the pic.

Thanks for the replies. Here's another pic without lighting. They are almost a peach color.

Yea I'd say you guys are right. Wasn't thinking they were peach but that's the best way I knew to describe there color right now. The guy I bought from has a couple different breeders he gets eggs from and he incubates then sells the chicks. He said that the parents were IB and BS but he did say he had purples in the incubator so I would say that's what they are and he just got them messed up
