Hi All, I'm new to the site, and to Chicken Wranglin. Live in Nor-Cal, just got the coop, and run together , got my first straight run of mixed chicks and a rooster yesterday, waiting to get my next batch , hopefully with in the week..

My first question I guess would be,How long until my chicks can be put in the coop, right now they are in a brooder box, and secondly,Should I keep my rooster in the coop for a specified amount of time before letting him in the run? And since my rooster is almost a year old, will he beat up my chicks when I put them in the coop?

Hold old are your chicks?

I just picked them all up yesterday. Right now the chicks are a day old, they are in the sunroom in a brooder box, the rooster is a year old, or just under.

never put chicks with the older ones until they are fully feathered or they were hatched by a broody hen. The bigger ones could kill them

Well that kind of answers my questions, but maybe you misread them? They are NOT together at this point, my question was when can I put them together?
