HenpeckedBabble
Chirping
Hello,
I’m new to having a back yard chicken flock. I mail ordered 4, day old chicks, and received 5. Oh My! I have 2 Buff Orpington and 3 Barren Plymouth Rock. I hope they are all girls (fingers-crossed). We have a pre-fab coop, with a few modifications, and a custom run (16x8). The chicks are 12 weeks.
I have to admit, I owe a huge THANKS to all of you for helping me to get this far. You’ve been my “go to” resource from the beginning. I decided to join because I wanted to say thanks to a few post (people) that helped me through.
My husband said chickens are “my thing” but he watch every move I make. He even “supervised” the guys building the run. We are within Metro Atlanta, on an acre lot, with 2 labs (Chase 7yo & Butter 13yo). Chase is a rescue, properly named from a pup.
He’s learned the chicks are important to me so he try to be nice. . “Brown Sugar” (BO) pecks at him through the fence.
I’d often dreamed of having chicks, now I’m so happy to come to this place in life. Thrilled to be apart of this Backyard community. You’ll be hearing from me - Hen pecked babble.
