Hi,

I am new to having pet chickens. We have a Faverolle and Rhode Island red. They free range in our fenced yard throughout the day. Our favorite part of owning the chickens is that we had no idea how friendly they could be. When we sit outside on our deck they come visit us and even will sometimes fly up and perch on our laps. Our other hobbies include build minor wood projects like shelves and other items and my wife loves to garden. We found backyardchickens.com from using the Alexa echo dot. We asked it questions when we first got the chickens and Alexa always responds "this is what I found on backyardchickens.com" It was easier than us getting the laptop and searching google.

We joined the community after realizing how often we come on here for advice.

What a great intro Mark! Welcome here there IS a wealth of knowledge here for sure. Such helpful members here to help with all things chicken related.
And yes I was surprised to see how friendly and cuddly chickens are. I have one I've just recently named Cuddle Bug as she never misses an opportunity to get close enough to me to be held when I'm in the run. Enjoy them.

What a great welcome! Thank you. This site does have a ton of information, and by joining the community, I like the fact that I can ask questions. To clarify, Alexa is the Alexa Echo Dot device that we have connected to our internet. We ask it about everything, and that is where we heard about backyardchickens.com. We had a fun evening with our chickens yesterday. It was very nice weather and just hung out on the deck where they can visit with us.
