Thank you. I am assuming the same thing. I have beentrying to guess by sound, posture, feet/legs, feathering, and size/width of comb. None are probably good indicators at this time, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try

Is there any way you can get some pics. from the side view? I know the GLW is too young to tell. The second pic. of tetra tints the pullet looks like it has a big comb for 4 weeks. The Brahma definitely looks like a roo. Some of the other smaller pullets are really hard to tell. You can either repost pics. with a little more light (sorry) and a side view or wait until 8 weeks and get a better idea.

Sorry... IMO it is hard to tell.

The Brahma in question that I think is a male and the EE that I also think may be a male, are always at each other. The EE does most of the picking. The EE also is turning pinkish in the comb whereas the rest of the EEs are still pale.

My little feed store is getting in straight run barred rocks on the 15th. I am hoping I have learned enough from you guys to pick pullets. I am cutting my limit at 3 roos(the brahma, the EE, and possible one of the GLWs) for the time being, and would hate to have to give up any of my little fellas.

There is a way to sex barred rocks by the shape and size of the white dot on their head. From what I have read a smaller circular dot is a pullet and a larger more irregular dot is a cockerel. Do a search on it please before you take my word for it because I am not 100% sure if I have that right or backwards which would make you wind up with boys.

If you can get a really good shot of the combs on the Brahmas you might be able to tell sex. Mine just turned four weeks today and it is getting a little easier to see the three rows of the pea combs on the boys now.

I can do that with the brahmas.

You are right about the barred rocks. I am just going to pick the darkest ones with the least amount of white on the head and hope for the best

On the barred rocks, also look for a dark(er) wash down the front of the legs and feet of the females. That combined with a neater, smaller headspot and overall darker color should hlp you pick pullets. Good luck and get there early for best pick. Regards, Woody
