Here is the pattern for the chicken feed bags. From 2 bags you can get 3 totes.

I have taken to making the handles 1" instead of the 1 1/2" it shows. Plus if your bags have the plastic over the end of the bag you can use that for a handle!

1. Fold the top of each end of the body over 1 1/2" and sew.

2. Fold the top of the sides down 1 1/2" and sew (not the bottom end).

3. Sew you handle sides together.

4. Sew handles on. I sew each end 4" from the side of the bag. Sew them along each side and not across to the other side of the bag.

5. Find the center of the body part and mark it.

6. Fold the sides in half the long way and mark the middle at the bottom.

7. Use the markings to line up the side along the edge of the body-in the middle. Pin and sew.

8. Pin the sides to the body of the bag. Sew.

Bag is complete and you can decorate it or leave it plain.
Cat food bags work well and you can get 1 tote out of a bag. The width of the 18 lb Special Kitty food bag is just right for the body length. Then do a handle and then the sides.
I sewed a pocket into the one we use for library for the slip.

Here's using 2-40 lb BOSS seed bags.
