Not all hens are good mothers. Most of the time I take newly hatched poults away from the hens. If the hen and the poults are not in the general population for at least the first two weeks they will do better than they will in the general population.

There are just too many things that can go wrong those first two weeks.

Just lost 3 poults:he i put them in a box with food and water on day2:he...water bowl was a bit too big so i have learned,i found one dead in water and three shivering from being wet and cold i did first aid and put them back under hen but 2 died and only 1 survived..i now have 8 in the box with a lamp for heat...yes i replaced the water bowl, they will get wet but not drown..agg turkey poults are so dumb and so is the owner... 🤦‍♂️
