New predator?

What is strong enough to break a duck's bill, then just open up her bottom to eat? No other marks! Happened at night or early morning.
They are usually in the coop at night but refuse to go in sometimes.
We've lost other ducks and chickens to hawks, eagles, etc.
Any ideas?

I've had animals eat my chickens' heads off before. They say foxes do that, but generally we've only seen racoons around. Racoons are clever little things, and can do many different things with their hands, so maybe a racoon? What do you mean by open up their bottom? Did their butt look eaten off? Or are you talking about the beak still?

Snapping turtles, dogs (not mine!)...cars, possum. The list goes on. Agree with Miss Lydia, they really need to go in before dark.

Don’t forget fisher cats that’s how they eat porcupine, in from underneath slit open and eat the middle. Best start trapping.
