New pullets huddle in corner? Act scared?

We got our first chickens today! 5 6-week old pullets. They seem to be scared of us and all huddle in the nesting box. Is this normal? They don't seem to be eating or drinking. Do I need to do anything to show them where to get the food and water?

Chickens hate change, and it generally takes time for them to adjust to a new home.

Yes, that's normal. IMO, it's best to withdraw and give them some space to get used to their new home.

If you use the same kind of feeder and waterer they had where they were raised they should recognize them in your coop. It might help if you "peck" the food and water with your finger a few times to help them understand the setup, especially if it's different than what they knew.

Once they're over the first fright they'll probably be pretty curious and find the food and water rapidly.
