Give him plenty of toys to play with. Don't hurt or smack him, this will only make him fear you and won't teach him anything. Instead move your hands away and say 'no' then offer him a toy instead. This way he'll know what he can chew and bite.

We had a vet nurse tell us to use Deep Heat - the cream for aches and pains. One taste and our puppy never tried to bite us again. Our pup was very exciteable so any vocal reaction from us just wound her up more, but this worked like a charm.
