New puppy needs training asap *Updates and training tips for your puppies!*

Well that's the update, now time for a story! Naga proved her worth the other day by saving my husband from a scorpion sting. I wasn't there, but he told me he was sitting in his chair in the living room and Naga was asleep, but suddenly she woke up and walked over to him, staring at his leg. She immediately lunged for his leg, and he thought she was going to bite him, but instead she pulled off a scorpion that was crawling on him and killed it!! Maybe not as great as those stories you hear about dogs saving their owner's lives, but she has become quite special to me, someone who normally doesn't even like dogs. I think she could be transforming me into a dog lover... She also showed up at our house on hubby's birthday.

Yay! I'm so glad to hear that everything is going well. It sounds like you are going a great job with her training. This is such a great story!!! Awesome. Keep us updated.

I have no idea, but I have this feeling like someone else on this forum had a avatar with a pup that looked just like her,so I am looking for it to ask what kind of dog they have.

Today's story is affectionately titled "Bugs Beware".

Naga is a very attentive puppy, always looking at her people's faces and reading their expressions. She often wonders what she could do to make them smile, I'm sure of it. I just know she is aware that she has gotten a second chance at life. Last night, a monster broke into the house. A silent terror. The monster was a twisted mass of spindly legs with a gaping maw in its repulsive brown center. It looked kind of like this:

...but scarier.

Naga watched her momma recoil in disgust when she saw it skitter across the coffee table and knew what she had to do immediately. She had to make her momma smile. She liked that expression the most. Naga dutifully bounded over to the scene of the crime while Momma cried, "Get it! Get it girl!"
Naga's momma fully expected her to try to crush it in her mouth, but Naga had other plans. She briefly examined it, gave a little growl for courage, opened her mouth and......
Raised one paw and stamped it to death, repeatedly and enthusiastically! Just like a human would squash a Grandaddy...I mean a monster. Her mission was accomplished! Momma was smiling and making these funny, high pitched, repetitive noises. Almost like barking, she thought, but happier than barking. Naga ended her performance by hopping in Momma's lap and giving kisses, and all was well on the Funny Farm that night.

The End

This thread is really evolving and turning into more than I thought it would. I am happy with that! However, I am not sure this thread still qualifies as belonging in the Predators and Pests category. Do you think I should move it or is it okay? If I need to move it, how do I do that? Also, I am attempting to change the title of this thread to include storytelling. I have edited it before and now I can't for the life of me figure out how to do it again

Can anybody point me in the right direction? Also I wanted to add that any stories of your preferred pooches are welcome here! Let's share stories of our journeys with our canine companions, including chickens whenever possible, of course

Well, in the Spirit of keeping true to the title of this thread, I have decided to branch off with the stories. If you're interested in reading more about Naga's quirks and endearing qualities, you can find this new thread in the Other Pets and Livestock category, under the title Naga's Story. Thanks all who have kept up with this thread! Otherwise, I will continue to use this thread to discuss training.

Hello fellow puppy raisers! How goes the training? Naga is officially a teenager. She has lost most of her front teeth and is growing big girl teeth! Her newest teenage behavior is deciding not to come when we call her. She will flat out sit down wherever she was standing and refuse to come! We have never punished her for not coming, so it's like this came out of nowhere. Any ideas?
