Hi! My name is Andrew and I have a flock of quail. Because I don't have chickens, per se, I'll be switching out the terms in this template, haha!
(1) Are you new to [quail] / when did you first get [quail]? I am new! I got my flock as babies about two weeks ago. They are now three-week-olds and I love them dearly.
(2) How many [quail] do you have right now? Eight! And somehow they're all hens...
(3) What breeds do you have? They're all coturnix, but the color varieties I have are: 2 greys, 1 silver/snowy, 2 tibetans, 2 goldens, and 1 mix (idk what she is, she has a really unique color I've never seen before)
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard [quail]? They're cute, they're urban-friendly, they're quiet, and they're entertaining! They're also rather social. I have one of my quail sitting on my desk right now as I write this
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Hiking, baking/cooking, gardening, and I dabble in writing.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. I am currently still living in my parents' house, but this coming year I'll be going to trade school to become a repair luthier. (Google it!) I have a garden and honeybees besides my flock, and as far as pets go, I have a cat and a bearded dragon.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
While researching before getting my flock, some of the most concise and helpful info I found were from these forums. This made me decide to join because quail are still fairly obscure and it seems like a gold mine of helpful information!
