so I have 3 new hens. All about 16 weeks old. All were laying before u got them. I also have a Male. The hens are not laying yet and it has been almost a week. They were in a small enclosure but just moved them to a very large pen. What can I do to help them lay??? Should I move the Male out for a while?
Totally new to this. I was told moving is stress on them so it could take a while. But the farmer I bought them from told me the other person who bought one already has eggs. Any help would be appreciated.

My button quail took almost a month to start laying, and they were old enough to start when I got them, so I think it just takes time. And if the other person who bought some already has eggs, then maybe could they have had them longer than you? If not, every quail is different, and maybe they need more time to adjust :) If you still don't have eggs after a while, then maybe revisit the issue, and go from there.
Oh, and welcome to BYC!

:welcome I don't have experience with quail but I wonder if the stress could cause them to stop laying for awhile. It's difficult to judge based on what success the next person has because their environment may be different for one reason to the next.
Lots of peeps on here raise quail so hopefully someone with more experience will come along :)
Good luck!
