1/4" hole at the bottom is small. I have 1/2" x 1/2" and 1" x 1/2" floor. The best would be 1" x 1/2" because the waste can fall off to ground easy.
The jumbo coturnix quail would be good choice.

So when they are older their waste is bigger than a rabbits? Dang! if it was 1/2 their feet would get caught. And I dunno if mine are jumbo but they are Coturnix xD

Sess, you said you keep them indoors. They may just be bunching up for warmth. check out this link MSU Temperature Recommendations. you may want to put a low wattage light bulb or a heat lamp in there just to give them a bit more warmth.

Thanks I noticed that, my mother is going through metapause so she keeps the house freezing at 71, but I just turned off the a/cs and opened the windows so its about 78/80 now

No feet got caught so far with my Jumbo Coturnix Quail.
