New Quail Pen in Progress

I copied a few people on youtube and here is my 1st effort at a quail pen. I'm building a couple of them.

I copied a few people on youtube and here is my 1st effort at a quail pen. I'm building a couple of them.

Day 2 of pen construction. So far all recycled wood. I do have about $75 in hardware, though.

That's real nice. Might copy that. Getting a hand full of quail Friday. I was just gonna spruce up an old rabbit hutch for them but that looks a lot cooler and more convenient.

The holes on the side of the cages look quite big.
Are you going to cover it with smaller hardware cloth?

To pull out trays are covered in hardware cloth.... Are you going to put trays on top of that?
What will be the floor of the cage...this pull out hardware cloth?

The sides are 1"X1" The floor is 1/2"x1/2" my research says that it will contain a courtinix quail. It does make it more susceptible to some predators.

I haven't installed the solid waste pullout shelves yet. I'm basically copying an excellent youtube video.

Rats will eat quail through a one inch hole in a heartbeat.

I was actually not even thinking about predators...I was worried about baby quail getting out of those holes. lol
