My hens all almost a year old 3 Amber Links, 1 Barred Rick and a Gold Laced Wyandotte. We got a Salmon Faverolle Roo from a friend. On day 3 found out he had lice and a scratched eye. He’s been in is own house and run (shared fence) for 2 weeks had 2 dust bag treatments and eye ointment every day. In another week or two should be cleared for moving in. He’s pretty tame, talks a lot and only tries to cock fight me in the morning for some reason. He’s had some fence pecking by our Wyandotte, which I thought seemed lowest in the order. I’ve read a lot about introducing and it’s good they have had this time to talk through the fence. I think it will go ok.... But our 3 , 6 week old chicks (Doking,Jersey Giant and a small Rose Comb ) will need to be integrated in another month also. The Dorking is good sized already and Jersey is getting tall. But the bantam is so small. They have had some sunny day through the fence introducing.
Yes! I’m finally at my question 😂 say the roo gets in ok ... will he attack new hens, or is my worry the other hens? And will a Roo breed with a non layer? He’s kinda big. Just trying to figure on timing.

I would be very surprised if he breeds the non layers. I really think, they need the signal of the red comb to find them attractive. My roosters only became interested just before the pullets first eggs.

And really adding a rooster is the easiest of additions, while their might be a dust up or two, any time I have done them, they were all in love before morning!
