Good morning! My enclosed coop is 7’x6’ and came with the roosts where you see them now (they are too close together and the bottom gets pooped on). I added the 1x4 boards on top of the 2x4s. I have 11 birds and they all sit on the highest roost (they use the lower to jump up - I rarely see anyone roost on it). I feel that there is a lot of wasted space that can be used for roosting. Would love some input on how to reorganize. I was thinking about putting something over their little door to the run with a poop board underneath, and maybe raising the poop board under the current roost so that there is more floor space that isn’t a little box. What is the preferred height? I’m sure they’d love to be up high - the peak is about 6’ at the center - but I’m sure it’s hot up there in summer, even with the fan on.

FYI - I have a dual fan set up on one of the upper eave vents for the summer months and I leave all the windows open, and eventually want to put an automatic door on the little door that goes to the 18x7 run. Wires will be properly run and secured. I am also considering putting a window on the top part of the side wall that you see for additional air flow in summer. Attached are two photos, the 2nd is a panoramic view.

Appreciate your input!!! Happy New Year to all!!

I would make it L-shaped. I have my poop board at about counter height (34") and the roosts are 13" above the surface of the boards. Something like this but with the long board and roost on the left side where your roosts currently are.

Love it! That’s what I had in mind. I need to paint the inside of mine, too. That might be a spring project. Not sure what type of paint to use and how long they need to be out of it.
