New Roost Location - looking for ideas, please :)

Am an 'L' shape fan too...all same height(~34" board, roost 8" above that).
Height easy for me to clean and grab birds for exams and the are fine with it.

Looks good! I think it will work well in my space.

Is the hanging bucket your feeder? I have a feeder (purchased) with holes and my rooster won’t put his head inside to eat (at least that I have seen) - he acts like he’s starving when I sprinkle the food on the ground. How much does it hold with those big holes?

Post pic of your feeder, please?

I fill daily with what they will eat in 24 hours,
not sure what total capacity is as it wasn't meant to be a long term feeder.

I purchased this so it would last a long weekend (holds 5# of feed). I was in a pinch and needed something quickly - if I had more time I would have done more research and made my own. It works well, but as I said, I’m not sure Mr. Big is using it - my girls are totally fine with it.

Yeah, not a fan of the PVC elbow feeders just for that reason.
My water bottle design could be up-sized by using a 7 gallon bucket so more of the 5 gallon bottle would be utilized.

Got curious and did some quick rough math...
My current feeder would hold about 2.4 gallons of feed
Using a 7 gallon bucket would hold about 4 gallons of feed.

That feeder should work great. I will say this I have a few I use. The one with 3” elbows the roosters don’t really use it. The ones with 4” elbows they use without issue.
One thing I like about is you could put different type of feed for hens only in the feeder.

I wonder if I can swap out the elbows?

Do roosters need different food? I was told they didn’t. If so - I can get him his own feeder

I would just make another feeder. I have a detailed explanation in my profile/articles section. Fairly inexpensive also.
As far as different feed for roosters that is a topic beat to death on here. It comes down to what you are willing to do along with what your goals with your flock are.
