New Rooster Killed Hen

Hi, I recently was given 5 hens and a rooster and when I introduced him to my flock, immediately one of my barred rock hens started fighting with him and it ended with him killing her. He's half bantam and slightly smaller than the hens. I didn't get to see what exactly happened, but there was a lot of blood around her head. Has this happened to anyone?
