(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens. A young Cockerel blew into my yard on a storm in May.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 1
(3) What breeds do you have? I believe he is a mix, very pretty most of the time, until he and the neighbor's rescue dog collide. This has happened 3 times.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens? Seeing him in the yard, calling his name and he comes running. He's mostly very sweet.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Making quilts and long arm quilting, reading, teaching a couple of girls to quilt, spending a lot of time helping my parents, learning Spanish
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I'm married, my husband works at home, I have 2 rescue dogs, a rescue cat.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I found BYC on Facebook and have enjoyed learning from all the posts. I found this when I wanted more info and I googled a question. I don't want to raise chickens. I would like a hen and I would just like to take good care of them.

You need to protect him from the neighbors dog, dogs kill chickens all the time. Best wishes with your boy!
