New rooster not breeding?

I just got a year old rooster about three days ago. I've integrated him in with my flock and have watched them together. Today was their first day out free ranging since I could supervise. However I don't believe any of the hens are letting him breed with them. Any time he makes any move toward any of them they run away. They have been laying eggs for a while so I'm not sure if they simply don't like him or if they don't know him enough. Haha. He's my first rooster I have no clue about chicken breeding. Do I need a new rooster or will it work out in time?

Give him time. IMO, it's great that he's respecting them for now. He'll start to get assertive, eventually.

That's what I thought. He's tried to find his Authority over me which has failed horribly but I wasn't sure if maybe my girls simply didn't like him.
