Hello! I just bought a new rooster for my flock last night. He is a cochin... less than a year old. I have them in the chicken run in a separate Coop away from the girls during his quarantine/introduction period. He was making some clucking noises when I brought him home, but I have yet to hear him crow. is it normal for a rooster to not Crow for a while in a new flock? He's our only rooster and I have 5 hens.

He is probably feeling insecure right now. New place, new friends. Give him some time! 😊
I agree. Cochins can be kind of shy, so give him time to adjust. It's also possible that he's a rooster that simply doesn't crow that often. Each one is different.

We’ve had some very quiet Cochin roosters. I’m sure he’ll adjust to his new digs and you’ll hear him crow once and a while when he does.

I have a 5 month old Black Copper Maran Roo that hasn't crowed yet. I added him and another hen to my small flock of 4 Rhode Island Red hens about a month and a half ago. I'm pretty sure its because my Red's are buttholes, and he seems pretty submissive to them. Honestly, I hope he doesn't start because I'm not supposed to have a roo anyway. But he's so pretty! lol
