New Rooster!

I just got a new rooster from a friend of mine who didn’t have enough space for him. He’s a Blue Copper Marans, about two years old, and pretty friendly. He has wickedly long, curved spurs.

I got him so that my eggs would be fertile again and I wanted darker egg genes. Any good ideas for names?

He's gorgeous. You can trim spurs with a large dog nail trimmer. I'd name him Fabio with his long flowing tail.

I was thinking about trimming his spurs. They don’t bother him yet, but they will soon.

I generally trim my roosters yearly, or at least check each one. Sometimes they curl and end up poking them in the bottom when roosting.
