New Rooster

I need some advice on how to introduce another rooster into my flock. I was able to get an old-type RIR and my new coop isnt built yet. I have 1 production RIR roo currently with 7 hens.

De-spur, & eventually they will tolerate each other.

The new rooster in the with all of them. And it wasnt the spurrs I should have been worried about..... Anyways, they kinda have it figured out with a little Intervention every now and then.

Is your flock mixed breeds as far as the hens go? Because I am wondering why the new roo.

I am striving to get an Old-type RIR flock, I had 1 oT hen and aquired another breeding pair. The production roo is a pet.

If I may go off on a bit of a tangent here, I'd highly recommend reading up on some biosecurity measures for your flock.

If you can come across "Speckledhens Ten Commandments for Flock Management", or something to that effect, you may find it very useful.
