New Roosters Coming Home Today!

My husband is bringing home 2 Roosters today,and we will add chickens when we can find some because were not having no luck at this here in Whitley City, Ky. I would really like to know if there is anything I need to know or do immediately before they arrive? Thank you, Good morning and have a,great day!

Yay! That's exciting! What breed(s) are they? Just curious. I don't think there is much you have to do immediately before they arrive. I'm assuming you already have a coop, and make sure they have plenty of water. Tonight it is important to put them in their coop so they are safe and know where it is, unless they do it themselves. They will learn to go in the coop by themselves in a week or two at the most. Some of my chickens learned it in a day. You may have already known some of this already. Are they from the same place? You might want to have a separate place to put one of the roosters in just in case if they don't get along. With two roosters i'd suggest getting 15 hens for them if you plan on getting hens and don't want health problems such as over breeding.The only other advice i'd have to say in check the fencing before they get here and make sure there are holes or things they can jump onto and get loose. Check for lice and mites, and dust if necessary - maybe even worm prophylactically Congratulations on the start of your flock.

Give them feed and water and let them get used to the new place..Hope you find some Hens soon..Just ensure your Rooster to hen ratio is correct...

Thank you and they have arrived. My husband brought them home this evening. Their brothers and they lady said she kept them together and that they would be fine. Their either both red or red and one is brown. 7 months old. I'll get some photos,tomorrow and post. Yes, this website is a great resource tool! I've read a huge amount of info on here!,

Well, that's an interesting way to start a flock.
Someone was probably very happy to get rid of 2 extra cockerels.

Do you have a coop and run set up?
Always good to have a separate enclosure or crate ready when dealing with multiple males.
