My FIL picked up 7 free roosters a couple days ago from a woman who had gotten too many in a SR mix. Six of them became mine.
We are planning to eat them, but in picking them up and moving them between cages, they seem to not have much meat on them. They are RIR, BO, and either LH or RIW. All of them are about 4 months old. They are quite tall, but when cradled under the breast, I can easily feel the breast bone. I can't really feel much muscle.
Is that normal? I haven't handled my hens much recently, and they tend not to like being picked up. I can't remember what they feel like under the breast.
