My husband has started the run for our 6 chicks! They won't be out in the coop for another three weeks but we're all ready for that transition!
So like I said we have 6 chicks so my husband is building a 6x10 run but it looks so small! This will be where they are 90% of the time ( other than their coop) but I feel like they will be cramped. He thinks I'm crazy. Am I??

Edit: I do know that technically 60 sq feet is enough but I guess I'm looking for experienced people to tell me if it really is. I just feel sad for them stuck in a cage most of the time

60 sq ft is the rule of thumb for 6 chickens. That said, I would suggest making it larger. The more room your chickens have, the less chances you will have with any social problems. Also, you may as will make it larger now, so when chicken fever hits and you want more, you'll have a run that can accommodate some "extra" chickens.

4 sq ft per bird in coop and 10 sq ft per bird in run is a 'rule of thumb'...bare minimum IMO.
Make both coop and run as big as possible.
