Howdy fellow meat eaters!

So I was gifted an Orloff cockerel the other day. He's around 8 months old and pretty hefty. When he was offered to me I didn't know they where used for meat birds.

I've wanted to do a heritage type meat bird for a little while, but everytime I find a breed I want to pursue I either can't find it or have to wait 6 months. That being said, I do have pullets/hens that could be mated with Sir Ollie this spring.

I need to weigh him, but he does have a long breast bone and good amount of muscle.

Has anyone here used Orloffs for meat production? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts on them, pure or crosses.

Hi, Trim! Nice looking roo there! It look's like his beard is longer than your's is. He should make good offspring with the Naked Neck's, if you can find some that have the shorter comb's to match his closer.

Yeah and the naked neck would save you some effort on the plucking too, as you are wanting meat birds., Let us know how it works out...

I suggest naked neck too for all the same reasons. Their meaty birds.
