New. ...... Should I be Concerned? Are they safe?

Loved reading your post and all the replies. I too am a new chicken Mom and have the very same concerns you do. My husband says I am overprotective. LOL But I cant bare the thought of going out one morning to find my girls dead! We bought a great coop but the person that built it only used black plastic fence cloth stuff over the air vents so I have to re-cover those with hardware cloth. Then I had a friend visit who has chickens and she said the stuff he covered the attached run with has squares big enough for a raccoon to fit their paw through so I am covering that with hardware cloth. We are also putting up a solar powered electric fence with 4 lines at different heights to be sure nothing can get under or over it. It surrounds the entire perimeter of the coop and run. Hubby says unless a 4ft raccoon with a ladder shows up, the girls should be safe!

My girls move outside next Tuesday, they will be 6 weeks old. So anxious!
