New silkie mom in TN

Thank you for the welcome 🤗 and here is a slight update from last night.

They have been eating none stop, and pooping regularly. The poo looks slightly different already still abnormal but less tacky tar. they still haven’t checked out the other half of the coop, but later today I’ll collect them up and move them, or coax them with something like grubs. They still stink bad, but you can’t smell it unless you’re on their level. I’ll attach a few photos. (I reached out to the person I got them from, and he said he will collect a few more and bring them to me but can’t promise if their hens or roosters) he agreed with my overcrowding comment, and he could use more space for the birds he plans to keep. I think taking more would help the birds he is keeping and I still have room for six more with my current set up. (I’d only want three or four with the set up I have though) I plan on building something larger down the road.

They are going to make a stunning flock! Be sure and add pictures when you get the others!

Hiya, and belated welcome to BYC! :frow

The pictured ones must be a cross unless you have other breeds along with silkies. I’d do what @DobieLover suggested, and also pick up some Poultry Cell vitamins and put that in their water every other day for a few weeks, then once a week for another month or two. After that, just a couple two/three times a month. Silkies are prone to vitamin deficiencies so vitamin enhancements can be vey beneficial.

Ours don’t roost but we made them ladders to get to the nest boxes and most sleep on top of those.
