Hello, I have been reading all the articles on BYC to know how to care for chickens and finally decided to make a profile.

Our chicks are about 4 weeks old and will soon move from their brooder to the coop I made. We just have a small flock, 4 chickens of different breeds:

Golden Star
Black Star
Black Astralorp
Americana

I choose these breeds because I read they do well in colder weather, they are more docile, and are good layers. Although the Americana is mostly there for the different color egg, my kids love that!

I made an ark style coop that is mobile, we plan on having them in the backyard and move them around the grass.

I have enjoyed the articles on BYC and look forward to being part of the community!

Welcome! I always love seeing new Utahns amongst us! I live in South Central Utah. There is a Utah thread as well, so check that out! Good luck with your chickens, and you'll soon be joining the chicken math club!

Hello and :welcome
I hope you enjoy the site! Sounds like you have a good plan for your chickens, and you've picked nice breeds which I've heard a lot of good about. ;) See you round.
