It is much safer than using a heat lamp, and the chicks are automatically acclimated to outdoor temps while being brooded in a method that is as close as possible to the type of heat provided by a broody hen. Natural day night cycles reduce the stress on the chicks. Fermented feed. Boosting chick's immunity by exposing them to the soil in your yard at an early age.

Moving from the suburbs to the country is definitely the right direction to go. At least in my opinion. We made the same move a number of years ago, and we've never regretted it!
