thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

are you allowed to have chickens at the new home?  Sometimes places that don't allow chickens, do allow guineas or quail.

I will have to look at the By-Laws in greater detail. For some reason I never thought past chickens. I also need to confirm regulations regarding the use of space between our sidewalk and the street. There is a good deal of land there that would make for a wonderful raised garden.

Cheers,

Scott.

Hello everyone,

Just thought I'd introduce / reintroduce myself. I started my account in 2011 when my wife and I thought we would be living on a property that would allow us to have a couple of chickens in the back yard. Alas, we moved to a City that does not allow for this (yet) in it's bylaws.

So for now I will continue to live vicariously through all of you on this site

In August we moved again, this time into ownership. We're excited to start converting the a lot of the yard space into edible garden space. It's going to be a slow build for us, but that suits our life just fine right now. With 2 young boys, 2.5 and 5 years old, digging in the dirt and planting will be extra fun.

Anyhow, I've really enjoyed the posts I've read so far. Lots of helpfull information.

Thanks,

Scott.
I read posts on here for a while before joining... and now I'm addicted. I suppose my addiction will fizzle a little after we close on our first house and I'm busy remodeling, building coops, cages, dog houses, etc and preparing and getting the animals =) but in a month I will probably be over my head with work! Anyway I'm like you, living vicariously and soaking up information like a sponge for later use =)
