The family and I went camping this past weekend and when we got home my chukar rooster was making a new sound!! All I had was 1 pair and they are in the pen with my 13 bobs. the pen is 20'x20'. Since the hen started laying, I would collect all her eggs. I would save 10 or 12 at a time and incubate them. I have had a few not hatch and a few die, but I now have 32 of their offspring ranging from 3 weeks to 11 weeks. I recently put all the babies into a pen that shares a common wall with the adults. The new sound he is making is a short shrill-screeching sound that lasts about 1/2 a second. He does this sound at least every 5 seconds nonstop. I went out to the pen about 9:30 last night and the pair were up on their roost with all the quail and he was still doing the same thing. The only difference this time was that the sound was alot softer. I woke up this morning and he was at it again... nonstop!! Any ideas?? It is almost like he is either lost or is trying to figure out a way to get to the young chukars, or get them to come to him. He is not pacing the fence though. He is walking aroung and hopping on stuff like always. I'm kinda worried about him though. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears!!
