Household of 12....One hubby, one puppy, one cat, two laying hens, and four very fuzzy baby chicks, and me makes 12. First time raising baby chicks. This is their fourth day with us. How long do they stay on baby feed? when should grits be introduced into their diets?
Welcome to the flock,
So happy you decided to join us!
I never give my chicks grit but I do take them off chick starter and put them on finisher/grower and week 10-12 What type of chicks do you have?

(sorry, couldn't resist) if you free range you won't have to give them grit they will pick it up themselves as they forage. The only time I would give them grit would be if they were in an enclosure with no gritty soil and feeding them grains. They need grit to help breakdown the grains in with their gizzard.
