Hi everyone
I have a incubator going with ducks and chickens in. The first lot are chicks and they are due today but no sign of any movement. I candled them 3 days ago and everything looked fine. the ducks are doing great. This is my second batch as I lost the first lot when the incubator thermostat broke. Am I being premature ?

I am Extremely new to hatching just started a few days ago actually. Well thats not entirely true i lost my first batch last month but when i talked to our local chicken expert in town she said sometimes it takes a bit longer. That we should wait a week over the 21 day incubation period before we tossed the eggs. I hope thats helpful.

My eggs rarely hatch exactly on day 21. I expect them either late at night on day 21, or day 22.

You should give the eggs atleast 6 days before calling it quits, and do a float test before chunking them.

If the temperature was low for just a bit during incubation, it can cause a late hatch.

I wish you the best of luck!
