(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I'm excited about being part of this chicken keeping community. I've read so much already and have learned a ton about chickens! I am VERY NEW to chickens!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? I have 6 chicks (they're 6 weeks old). I've been thinking about chickens for the past 3 years or so. This year I decided to do it, along with my husband's blessing (of course).

(3) What breeds do you have? The breed I have are Amberlinks. They are really sweet!

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I found out about BYC by doing various searches through Google about everything chickens!

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? I love to be outside with my Golden Retriever, Lillie, who I love to pieces! I take her trail walking, one of our favorite activities!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
A little about myself...I have two wonderful children, our daughter is 28 and our son is 25. They are great kids! I am blessed beyond words! My husband and I have been married for 30 years. He's the love of my life and has come around to the chicken idea (lol). I am employed at a vocational school with an environmental program where I work as a teaching assistant. My co-worker has been super supportive and has answered a lot of questions regarding chickens. He has a few and brings his Barred Rock (Helga) in once in a while. The kids love her. She's really sweet. I'm happy I found this website and am happy to be a part of it.

Hello! I'm a relative newbie around here too, but it seems to be a very friendly place. Everyone has been very patient with my silly questions and there is a wealth of knowledge here. :)

I am new to chicks too. I just picked up my first ten on an impulse while at Tractor Supply buying dog food. I've had a few small laying flocks over the years, but never any chicks. I am loving every minute of this new experience!

Welcome aboard and let the obsession begin!
