My name is Brenda and I live in Louisiana. I would like to join all you chicken peeps for support and knowledge. I have kept chickens on and off for years. My last flock were Araucana/Americauna (Hatchery brood), buff orphingtons, white leghorns, and a silver laced wyandotte. I had to give them up a couple of years ago to go with my husband on the pipeline. Now that he has decided to work locally we have started a garden and a new flock of chicks. I have 3 cornish rocks (probably all roos) and 3 production red pullets that came from Tractor Supply in an effort to save a Phoenix ... I had to buy 6 to get the one that I wanted. I ordered 6 Araucanas and 5 Marans. Only the Araucanas have come in from my order. I reordered the marans and Welsummers in hopes of getting them. My feed store said they were having a hard time getting their birds this years. Hatching was not going as good as usual. I am here for conversation and advice. Right now, my birds are doing great. Hopefully, my new ones will come in on the hatch that is delivered tomorrow.

Welcome to BYC!

So glad you could join our community! Sounds like you have a nice flock. And yes, some years the hatchings are not that good. But good luck building up your flock with the birds you desire and welcome to our flock!
