We're starting out with our first coop and our first duo of baby chicks. So far we have a two nest box chicken coop built. One of our chicks is a black jersey giant, and the other is a wellsummer. Right now I have them in a box with a heat lamp on them but I'm just terrified I'm doing something wrong. The wellsummer is running around peeping and pecking seemingly happily but the other is very sleepy and napping a lot. I found this page because I was sure there must be something wrong with the little black one. I'm going to try to read everything I can about chicks! I'm so grateful this forum is here!

! Pleased to have you with us! Good luck to you and your chicks!

Hatching and transportation to a 'sales center' is a stressful deal. Hopefully your chick will rebound. 3 is generally a better number than 2 - that way if something happens to one, the remaining chicks provide company for one another. Welcome to BYC.
