Hi there! We are up north city folk that moved to the country of Oklahoma last summer. This year we are ready to start our own little farm! Chickens have been at the top of our list since we came out here, and today we are going to get our first brood of Wyandottes! We've done some research and studied up and are ready to jump in. We are getting 6 chickens and coop that they already live in. Basically the only change for them will be us and the surroundings! Any hints tips tricks or things to look for would be greatly appreciated! We have been scrubbing this site for all the information we can soak up!!

!

So glad you could join our community! Chickens are a great first step for creating a nice little farm. I hope your new chicks all arrive safely and transition into their new home! The Wyandotte is my favorite breed of chicken. I think that you'll enjoy their good temperaments, beautiful plumage, very good egg production, and cold hardiness.

Sounds like you're well prepared for the chickens! You may want to check out the Learning Center for some good information on raising chickens: Learning Center Articles If you have questions that you can't find answers to, just ask! We'll be happy to help out.

Welcome to our flock and I hope you enjoy BYC as much as we do!

I'm glad you joined our "flock!"

Good luck with your new farm and chickens! Chickens are excellent animals to raise, since they're hardy, beautiful, relatively docile, and productive. Wyandottes, in particular, have always been one of my favorite breeds.

In terms of helpful information, I'd definitely check out the Learning Center that Wyandottes7 linked to. If you have any specific questions, just ask those, too. We'll be happy to help!
