HI, I am first time mother hen to 5 Cinnamon Queens. I live on the island of Kauai.
My pullets are 18 weeks old, beautiful: feisty and have developed an entitled attitude.
They have not started laying yet.
A dozen organic eggs here on the island can cost $12 a dozen. So, my husband and I decided to get our own and raise for eggs.
Plus a family member, who happens to be Chinese, advised that chickens are considered good luck.
So, we have our 5 hens now, and they are delightful brood. I am impressed with the personalities and how communicative they are.
I have a question, I was advised to wet their food and slow on treats. I was giving my hens, watermelon, lettuce, sweetcorn, worms, oatmeal, etc.
They were happily eating it and would circle around me to get their treats with gusto.
As soon as I incorporated the wet food they don't want anything, but wet food. I leave out the dry for them as well.
But they seem to wait around for me to give them their daily wet portion. Is this good?
