I have been raising chickens for about two and half years. After culling several hens in our flock today, I am down to 20 birds. I have a variety of chickens including Black Astralorps, Rhode Island Reds, Brahmas, Plymouth Rocks, Buff Orpingtons, Sussex and what we thought were Easter Eggers, but they ended up being Sussex.

I culled some of the older birds in my flock today and found what I believe to be a Lash inside two of the birds. My search for answers led me to BackYard Chickens. I am trying to find out if its safe to eat the chickens that had the lashes, should I feed them to the dog or just throw them away.

I addition to raising chickens, I am an avid gardener and love wire crafting jewelry. Our little slice of heaven is also home to two cats and beautiful hound dog named Sadie.
