Hi my name is George, and I am new to backyard chickens. My wife has been a member for about 8 weeks now. She is Dpeabody28. We have only been raising chickens for going on 8 weeks now, but I have been around chickens since I was real little. My grandfather has raise pretty much every breed of livestock, but his favorites were his chickens and rabbits. When he passed he had a total of 100 R.I.R's I wanted to keep his birds but where we lived at the time we couldn't have chickens. So when I had the opportunity I wanted to carry on his legacy raising chickens. We now own 8 Buff Orphingtons, 4 Rhode Island Reds, 4 Barred rocks (Plymoth Rocks), 1 Americana, 2 Black Sex Links, and 2 Silkie's. We have raised all but one from peeps, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I'm looking forward to getting some eggs and hatching some. I look forward to meeting everyone. We live in Waterloo, SC.
