New to backyard chickens

Thank you! My original plan was to buy chicks, mostly Rhode Island reds, but we came across these brown ones at a nursery that were bigger and could go directly into the coop. I was a little disappointed not getting chicks but I love these girls. I have spoiled them too much because they follow me around everywhere! They're defiantly my pets.

Thanks! I have one Plymouth, black and white kind?, and my other 8 are brown chickens. Pictures match isa browns which I don't think is a breed? I'll post a picture.
Your brown chickens are Red Sex Link hens, and you're right, they are not a breed. Red Sex Links are hybrids produced by crossing red gene roosters with silver gene hens. The resulting offspring offspring can be sexed by color at hatching (boys are whitish, girls are reddish), and they are better layers than either parent breed (one of the interesting quirks of hybridization). Isa Brown is one of many labels that some hatcheries use to market RSLs. Other labels by which they are marketed include Red Star, Brown Sex Link, Gold Sex Link, Gold Star, Cinnamon Queen, Bovans Brown, Golden Buff, Golden Comet, Hubbard Golden Comet, Shaver Brown, Babcock Brown, Warren, Hylines, Gold Lines, Lohmans, Lohmans Brown, Bovans Goldline, etc., but no matter which label they are marketed under, they are all egg laying machines.
