New to Backyard Farming

Welcome to BYC. For your allergies: Get tested by an Allergist if possible, they can help you with meds to mitigate some of that. Design your coop and run to minimize having to enter them. Make sure your nest boxes can be accessed from outside the coop/run so eggs can be gather without entering coop/run. Add poop boards with full access from outside so they are easy and neat to clean. See my pics attached.

Welcome!
You’ll be busy getting things set up then rearranged as you figure out best ways to do things.

where, in general, are you located? I’m western Ohio, so only potatoes have been planted so far in my garden.

chickens: dusty, of course. Whenever we clean out the coop in a big clean out, we use a respirator (half face). But, if we are just lightly tossing the bedding over to expose clean surfaces, then we usually don’t. Some use poop boards under the roosts, then add sand or similar so the can scoop out the poops in the morning, and the coop bedding stays “clean” longer.
